Youth & Children’s Work
Dove Club & Youth Group
We have three different groups that meet on a Sunday morning during the 11 am service, called Sparklers and Fuse.
Sparklers are for 3-7s. Blast is for 8 to 11s. Fuse is for 12 to 18s
Each session includes activities designed to help children engage with and grow in their faith.
The children will leave near the beginning of the service and return during the distribution of Communion. Those who are Confirmed can take the bread and wine; for others, we pray for God’s blessing on them.
All our children’s and youth work is done under the Church of England Safeguarding Policy.
To sign your child or young person up for this group, please click on the link below to complete the Parental Consent form.
Abbey Toddlers
Abbey Toddlers happens every Tuesday. The Building will be open from 9:30 am, and we will start at 10:00 am and finish at 11:30 am. Refreshments will be available.
There will be free play for the first half an hour. We will then all come together to sing some songs, read a Bible story, and do a craft activity. The last part of the session will include some bubbles and free play.
A suggested donation of £2.00 per family
There is no need to book.
Here are some pictures of the great space we have!
Holidays
We will be running holiday activities during the May half-term break. Please see below for more information.
Schools Work
We currently have connections with St Margaret’s Primary School, Gascoigne Primary School, Eastbury Community School, Ripple Primary School, Northbury, and Greatfields Primary School.
We can offer primary schools help with the following by helping run assemblies, helping develop reflective pods or prayer spaces, chaplaincy work, and more.
We also welcome school visits to the church.
If you are connected to a local school and would like us to come in, then please do get in touch. We would love to hear from you!
Youth and Children’s Worker
Hi, my name is Sarah and I am the Youth & Children’s Worker here at St Margaret’s Church. I have been doing Youth and Children’s Work for over a decade now, either in a paid or voluntary role.
I have a heart for children and young people and love spending time with them and their families. I love being able to tell them more about Jesus, help them to deepen their relationship with Jesus, and just getting to know them.
I truly believe this is where God has called me to be. I am looking forward to seeing what God will do through me to enhance the Youth and Children’s Work here at St Margaret’s and within the community in Barking.

More volunteers needed
We have a great team that leads this work, but we always need more people to get involved. If you would like to join the team, then please sign up by ticking the appropriate box on our online form. You will need to go through our Safer Recruitment process, which includes completing an application form, providing References, a DBS check, and some online training. This is essential for making sure that St Margaret’s is a safe place for all our children and young people, though we hope to make this process as simple as we can.
