Come in … We’re Open!

At St Margaret’s will call ourselves ‘The Abbey Church’, with a focus on Worship, Community and Hospitality. On Saturday 14th September we have an opportunity to show our hospitality as part of the London Open House Festival.

From 11am to 2pm the Church and Curfew Tower will be open to visitors to come and experience the beauty and peace of St Margaret’s and discover more about our fascinating history. The Curfew Tower will be open, giving people an opportunity to view the historic ‘Holy Rood’, and the Bell Ringers will be in the main tower so more people can find out what bell ringing is all about.

St Margaret’s is a wonderful place of history, but those of us who worship regularly here know that it is much more than that. It has been a centre of Christian worship for over 800 years (1300 years if you include the Abbey) and remains so today. We hope that through the hospitality of the Open House day, more people will come to join us and experience more of what it means to be part of St Margaret’s as it is today.

If would like to be part of this day then you can sign up by going to stmargaretschurchbarking.com/openhouse. This will take you to a form where you can sign up. Please indicate the times that you will be able to do and whether you are willing to work in the Church, the Curfew Tower or both.

We hope that this day will be a great opportunity to share St Margaret’s with the wider community. Please sign up and be part of it!
